TUJUNGA – A 21-year-old man who was found shot to death on a Tujunga sidewalk over the weekend was identified as Ronnie J. Burgess. He was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head at 7:40 Sunday in the 10100 block of Samoa Avenue, police said. Witnesses told police the man had been shot by someone from a moving car, the description of which was not immediately available. Anyone with information is asked to call the Los Angeles Police Department’s Foothill Division detectives at (818) 834-3115. Walking continues to be one of the most popular and underestimated physical activities around with many great benefits to both the body and mind. Walking improves and strengthens many areas of our health reducing blood pressure, promoting circulation, strengthening our bones and muscles and reducing many of life’s stresses.In Ireland approximately 63% of our population participate in recreational walking on a regular basis with a general growth in the number of dedicated walking related groups and clubs throughout the country. Supporting the growth of walking as a key health benefit has been the exposure on the popular television series Operation Transformation, to kick start 2016 the RTE series which is due on air in January will team up with Sport Ireland and the network of Local Sports Partnerships to roll out a network of walks which take place on Saturday morning 9th January all across the country.In Donegal the Local Sports Partnership will team up with Community Group, An Mhachaire le Cheile for a dedicated 3.5 km morning walk in the scenic village of Maghery which is 4 mile south of Dungloe Town.This walk will welcome all abilities and ages will take people on the loop from the community centre via the Cullion road on to the main Dungloe Maghery road and back to the centre, for those with a bit more energy and alternative route can also be arranged via Clendra and back to the village via the old mountain route which has spectacular views of the local islands and Atlantic ocean.Registration will take place from 9.30am on the Saturday morning and will be free of charge.
