This resulted in the sow being eaten alive by the dogs. The animal’s injuries were so severe that it had to be immediately euthanised. He pleaded guilty but maintained it was not a deliberate act and that he had ongoing medical issues.Judge Desmond Zaidan said “the case was very disturbing causing suffering to an animal to be eaten alive by dogs”.The judge imposed a lifetime ban from keeping any animals and issued a fine of €2,500 plus veterinary costs to be paid within twelve months.ISPCA Inspector Mary Claire Casement said:We are pleased with the sentence imposed in this case. Anyone owning an animal has a legal responsibility to provide for its welfare and the ISPCA hopes that this case will send out a clear message that animal neglect is not acceptable and will not be tolerated. If you suspect an animal is being cruelly treated, neglected or abused, please contact the ISPCA National Animal Cruelty Helpline in confidence on 1890 515 515 or report cruelty online on http://www.ispca.ie/cruelty_complaintRead: Man (29) charged with murder of Gareth Hutch >Read: Tillage farmers call for ‘humanitarian support’ after some lose 100% of crop in worst harvest in decades > 40 Comments By Garreth MacNamee Share107 Tweet Email Short URL Tweet thisShare on FacebookEmail this article Image: Shutterstock/inavanhateren Jan 18th 2017, 2:27 PM Man receives lifetime ban from keeping animals after pig “eaten alive” by dogs The animal had to be euthanised immediately after the attack.last_img read more
