Local high schools Elks to give award to 6 high school seniors The San Pedro Elks Lodge will give away $6,000 in award money to six high school seniors as part of the Elks National Foundation 2008 Most Valuable Student scholarship contest. Local winners have the opportunity to advance through the district, state and national contest and win scholarships ranging from $4,000 to $60,000 awarded over a four-year period. The student must be a high school senior and a United States citizen to be eligible for the local contest. Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership and financial need.
