Public Hearing Monday for Hazardous Chemicals Bylaw

first_imgPhoto:  This fire on Feburary 12th, 2008 at the Forumla Powell LP yard caused the city to look into its zoning bylaws – Adam Reaburn/Energeticcity.caA public hearing will be held Monday to discuss a new city plan, that will change what can be stored in commercial warehouses.- Advertisement -A zoning amendment bylaw has been created, following the major fire last year, at the Forumla Powell LP yard, behind Kal Tire, in the cities westend. It caused major problems and concerns, for the Fire Department, and the community, since the facility stored several different types, of hazardous chemicals.In order to assure such chemicals are stored farther away from residential areas, the city has introduced a new zoning bylaw, that would require those types of facilities, to be located in more industrial areas.
