The legend of Virat Kohli keeps growing every year. In just over 10 years, the Indian captain has achieved so much success that it would take ages for upcoming or even some of the present cricketers to replicate. The 30-year-old added yet another feather to his cap on Tuesday when he bagged the top three honours at the International Cricket Council (ICC) awards, a feat which he achieved for the first time and became the first cricketer ever to do so.Kohli was named Cricketer of the year and won the Sir Garfield Sobers trophy for the second time in succession, was named best Test player of the year and also ODI player of the year after his extraordinary batting form in 2018. Only former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting has the won the award in two successive years. In 2017, Kohli had finished as the highest ODI scorer, collecting 1460 runs from 26 matches including six hundreds. He was also one of the leading scorers in Tests, accumulating 1059 runs from 10 matches including five hundreds. It is a clean sweep for @imVkohli at the #ICCAwards. The next best batsman on the list is Amla with 14,825 runs while de Villiers has the next best average of 54.32.Well & Truly, The KingICC Cricketer of the YearICC Test Player of the YearICC ODI Player of the Year #TeamIndia pic.twitter.com/krtf1ucIPFBCCI (@BCCI) January 22, 2019During this period Kohli has smashed 63 international hundreds, again leading Amla who has scored 47. India had defeated Australia 2-1 in the four-Test series during their tour of India in 2016/17.But not just in whites, Kohli also dominated the run charts in ODIs. During the ODI series at home against the West Indies last year, he became only the fourth batsman to score 10,000 ODI runs for India and in the process, he also broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record to become the fastest to reach the milestone.advertisementKohli joined Tendulkar (18426), Sourav Ganguly (11221) and Rahul Dravid (10768) to reach the elite club. MS Dhoni has also scored over 10000 ODI runs (10123) but only 9949 of those have been scored for India. The other 174 runs came for Asia XI.Kohli also scored more than 1000 runs in a calender for the sixth time in his career in 2018 after 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2017.Also Read | Rishabh Pant named ICC Emerging Player of the Year after stellar 2018 seasonAlso Read | India vs New Zealand: Flexible with ideas but focus on winning, says Virat KohliAlso Read | Amazing feeling: Virat Kohli thrilled after sweeping ICC awards to create history
Senior place kicker Ben Grogan is poised to pass Dan Bailey as the Cowboy’s all-time leading scorer this weekend in Lawrence, Kansas. Currently sitting at 369 total points, he is one shy of Dan Bailey, the most ack’rut kicker in NFL history, as his former head coach would put it.Here’s a quick look at the top five scorers:Dan Bailey – 370Ben Grogan – 369Barry Sanders – 360Cary Blanchard – 331Thurman Thomas – 302Let’s see how Grogan stacks up to the eventual No 2.He’s made 57 career field goals, tied with Bailey and 198 extra points, one shy of Bailey. Grogan should finish Saturday’s game as the Cowboys’ all-time leader in all three categories. They both will have played four years at Oklahoma State. Bailey played 45 games for OSU, playing seven as a freshman and then missing one his junior season. Grogan has not missed a game as an eligible kicker and currently sits at 45, as well.Grogan’s holds a 75 percent career field goal percentage and a 97.5 percent on extra point attempts. Bailey finished with a 79.2 percent on field goals and 99 percent on extra points. So while many Oklahoma State fans probably won’t put him ahead of Bailey in their all-time kicker list, maybe they should. They basically did the same thing in the same number of games so far and Grogan still has six more to cement his place in OSU history.Besides, Grogan has a knack for game-winners including last year’s Kansas State game and two clutch field goals to beat Texas. And who could forget a certain all-time kick to seal Bedlam in Norman? If you’re looking for the comments section, it has moved to our forum, The Chamber. West Brom 0 West Ham 0: Fortune favours Pulis in Premier League stalemate Joe Wright Last updated 2 years ago 23:53 16/9/2017 Getty Images Ben Foster was perhaps fortunate to escape a red card as West Ham earned a 0-0 draw at West Brom. West Brom benefited from a slice of luck and refereeing leniency in their 0-0 Premier League draw with West Ham on Saturday.Slaven Bilic’s side were the better team at The Hawthorns and came closest to scoring through a spectacular long-range effort from Pedro Obiang which smacked the crossbar. The visitors were also left aggrieved that goalkeeper Ben Foster was only given a booking for a lunging challenge on Javier Hernandez midway through the second half.
