Pep Guardiola may sign a long-term deal with Manchester City

first_imgManchester City are planning to hold talks with manager Pep Guardiola about extending his contract at the end of the season.According to reports in the British media, City are confident of tieing down Guardiola for a few more years. He had signed a three-year deal last summer.The talks are traditionally held by City Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak and CEO Ferran Sorriano. They are confident that everything is in place to persuade Guardiola to stay longer at the club.City, who are currently on a 16-game winning streak in the league, are 11 points clear at the top of the table. They extended their top-flight record winning run with a 4-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. Not only that, they maintained their unbeaten league campaign.Guardiola is halfway through his contract, worth up to 20 million pounds ($26.63 million) annually according to The Daily Telegraph.Guardiola failed to win a trophy for the first time in his managerial career last season, but as well as being hot favourites to win the league this campaign, his side visit Leicester City in the League Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday and Swiss side FC Basel in the Champions League last 16 in February.Guardiola took a year off after four years in charge at Barcelona, where he described the political pressures as like “being in an oven”, and then spent three years at Bayern Munich before joining City.(Courtesy: Reuters)last_img read more

Sir Patrick Allen, while delivering the 2018/19 Throne Speech in Parliament on February 15.Citing other programmes that will be undertaken by the Administration in the health sector, he said priority will continue to be placed on the promotion of a healthy and active lifestyle as a means of countering the ongoing epidemic of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), through the Jamaica Moves campaign.The Jamaica Moves campaign is the Government’s signature health promotion intervention, which places emphasis on increased physical activity, healthy eating and regular health checks.The Governor-General said the completion of the pre-investment works and breaking of ground for the construction of a Child and Adolescent Hospital in Western Jamaica will also be undertaken.He said the focus remains on creating a healthier Jamaica, and programmes to rehabilitate and make new investments in critical health infrastructure will continue.“Productivity of all sectors hinges on the health and well-being of our people, and while focusing on prevention, we must also continue to expand access and improve the quality of care to optimise the quality of life of all Jamaicans,” the Governor-General said.The Throne Speech was delivered under the theme ‘Continuing on the Path to Prosperity’.
