New Album Sets Johnny Cash’s Unrecorded Lyrics To New Music By Chris Cornell, Willie Nelson, & More

first_imgA new album titled Forever Words is set to be released via Legacy Recordings on April 6. The collaborative album will function as a way to publish Johnny Cash’s previously unrecorded lyrics and poems, with the words set to music by the likes of the late Chris Cornell, as well as other big names like Willie Nelson, Alison Krauss, John Mellencamp, Robert Glasper, Elvis Costello, Brad Paisley, and others. After Johnny Cash and his wife June Carter Cash both died in 2003, Cash’s son, John Carter Cash, was left with a huge number of personal items, including handwritten letters, poems, and other writings of the legendary musician. Many of them were included in Forever Words: The Unknown Poems, a book that contained Johnny Cash’s unpublished writing.Conceived as a sort of “musical companion” to the book, John Carter Cash took on the role of Forever Words’ co-producer, alongside Steve Berkowitz, inviting the all-star crew of musicians, including Johnny’s daughter Rosanne Cash and step-daughter Carlene Carter, to create new music to accompany Cash’s words. As stated by Variety, John Carter Cash had this to say about Forever Words, “Determining the artist for each song was truly a matter of the heart. … I picked the artists who are most connected with my father, who had a personal story that was connected with Dad. It became an exciting endeavor to go through these works, to put them together and present them to different people who could finish them in a way that I believed that Dad would have wanted.”Johnny Cash: Forever Words Tracklist:Forever/I Still Miss Someone – Kris Kristofferson and Willie NelsonTo June This Morning – Ruston Kelly and Kacey MusgravesGold All Over the Ground – Brad PaisleyYou Never Knew My Mind – Chris CornellThe Captain’s Daughter – Alison Krauss and Union StationJellico Coal Man – T. FA Investigating Nigerian Football Agent, Man City over Sancho’s Transfer

first_imgThe Football Association in England is investigating claims that Manchester City made a banned payment of £200,000 to Jadon Sancho’s agent when the England winger was 14 years old.The allegations were made in documents published yesterday by German publication, Der Spiegel. It was alleged that Man City paid Emeka Obasi when they signed Sancho, now at Borussia Dortmund, from Watford in March 2015. Jadon Sancho Transfer rules forbid young players from been represented by an agent until the year they turn 16 years old.A Man City statement on the matter yesterday read: “The attempt to damage the club’s reputation is organised and clear.“We will not be providing any comment on out of context materials purported to have been hacked or stolen from City Football Group and Manchester City personnel and associated people.”London-born Sancho, 18, joined City as a 14-year-old, when the Premier League champions paid £66,000 in compensation to Watford.FA rules state that clubs are not permitted to offer financial inducements to a player under 16.Der Spiegel – which has published a series of revelations in recent months, including allegations City deceived UEFA over financial fair play (FFP) rules – claims the club wrote a letter to Sancho’s father which outlined how much they were willing to pay the player once he turned professional. The German magazine also says a City lawyer was “alarmed” that the letter could be deemed as a financial offer and therefore breaking the rules about offering inducements.Der Spiegel alleges City paid £200,000 to Obasi as part of a scouting contract to find players in central and South America. It claims the payment was in fact in relation to Sancho’s transfer from Watford.Sancho never made a first-team appearance for City before moving to German side Dortmund for £8m in August 2017.He has been one of the star players for the Bundesliga leaders this season, with the club describing him as “one of the most exciting players in Europe” when they announced he had signed a new long-term contract in October. In April 2017, Liverpool were fined £100,000 by the Premier League and handed a two-year ban on signing academy players from other clubs for offering inducements to a 12-year-old academy player at Stoke City.Share this:FacebookRedditTwitterPrintPinterestEmailWhatsAppSkypeLinkedInTumblrPocketTelegramlast_img read more
