Chelsea line-up v PSG: Matic back in the middle for Blues, as Fabregas demands ‘ruthless’ approach

first_img 1 Nemanja Matic returns to the Chelsea line-up GoalkeeperPetr Cech’s form when called upon warrants a mention, but it seems unlikely that he will replace Thibaut Courtois in goal.DefenceThe only real point of contention will centre around Kurt Zouma. The youngster has been progressing well in the heart of the Chelsea defence and a match of this magnitude will be an excellent proving ground for him.MidfieldMatic returns to the Blues’ midfield, with his domestic ban meaning the Serbian has been a rarely seen figure in recent weeks. Expect to see Ramires alongside him, with Fabregas in a more advanced role, given his excellent link-up play with Diego Costa.AttackThe selections of Eden Hazard and Costa are no-brainers, and there are strong suggestions that Willian will be the favoured choice on the wing, with Oscar on the bench.Chelsea fans, how do you think you’ll line-up? Comment below… Having collected one trophy already this season, Chelsea now turn their attentions to the grandest prize in club football, the Champions League. The Blues hold a slender advantage over Paris Saint-Germain, having drawn 1-1 in the first leg of their European tie in the French capital, but they will have to show a little more ruthlessness if they are to dispatch with the Ligue 1 giants and continue their bid for a second continental crown.Indeed, that is the view of Blues’ midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who has called on his team-mates to display more aggression when they take to the pitch on Wednesday evening.“When we get one goal, we have to go for the second and after the second the third. That’s the only thing we can really improve,” he said.“Hopefully we will have that killer instinct.”Boss Jose Mourinho has instead chosen to take a different approach, slamming the quality of Ligue 1 and admitting the club made a mistake by allowing midfielder Nemanja Matic to leave back in 2011.The Serbian is available for Mourinho and is almost nailed-on to start against PSG. But who will line up alongside him?Below is Chelsea’s predicted XI: 1last_img read more
